Tip of the Day 04/03/08
April 3, 2008
Do you have problems sleeping at night? I remember when I had insomnia. That was a long time ago, but I got over it. I think it is important that people make their bedrooms as simple as possible. Isn’t the bedroom’s basic purpose for sleep? So, when you fill it with distractions, it’s not very conducive.
I know it isn’t practical for me yet, but in the future, I’d like to make my bedroom beautifully designed while lacking in features. What I mean is that I don’t want a television or a computer or anything that would distract me from getting a good night’s rest. I want my bedroom to be a place of peace and serenity. That way, I would get the best sleep possible. But let’s talk about practicality. Instead of changing your room, which I think may take a lot of effort, what can you do in order to lull yourself to sleep?
Well, you can always start with wearing comfortable clothes. It’d be quite uncomfortable sleeping in your jeans. Or you can always sleep with no clothes. It gets very hot in the summer. I know some of you have done this before. I’ve slept without a shirt on a few times and I have to say that I like the contact between my skin and the blanket. It feels nice. Or if you are one of those people that sleeps without pants because you like the contact between your junk and the blanket, that’s cool as well. Whatever makes you happy.
Take a hot bath. Sometimes, I like to take an extremely hot bath for a long period of time. When I get out, I almost feel tired right away. A lower temperature signals your body to sleep. Your body’s response to heat is to lower your body temperature. I don’t know how else to explain this. Try it. You’ll see.
Keep it dark. Close all your windows. Don’t let any light in. People should know this already.
Any other tips you know that helps you fall asleep faster?
